For much of the same reasons it isn’t suitable for newbies and bloggers, BigCommerce is also not suitable for small businesses or freelancers. True, there is an element of site building but the real power in BigCommerce is where online stores are concerned.

For Online Shops

By now many will realize that this is the category of users BigCommerce was built for. However, not all online stores are equal and there are smaller ones who can even get by with standard website builders which support eCommerce features.

BigCommerce is meant for serious competitors and has the features to prove it. Take for example multi-channel integration which enables a single store to cross sell across multiple platforms. The most telling feature though is the capability of supporting B2B customers in everything from payments to customized pricing for individual product SKUs.

For Agencies and Developers

Although developers may like a BigCommerce account to test scripts of apps they develop it really isn’t that necessary. An account here can be expensive to maintain unless you’re commercializing your site, so again, not great for this purpose.

Onboarding

Right from the get-go, BigCommerce is all about helping online stores make the sale. Even once you sign on this is telling by their limited themes and yet strong focus on items along the way such as analytics, revenue, product and orders. The world revolves around the sale here.

You will also find that their “Getting Started’ features will help guide you along rather quickly. This is good because there are so many options in BigCommerce that you will thanking everything you know for it. Luckily, there is a comprehensive support section as well.

Still, considering how many features they’ve packed into this site and how much it can do, it is surprisingly easy to get used to – just not to master.
