Digital Ocean Review Summary
VPS hosting can be a little daunting for many people in the first place, but Digital Ocean has made that doubly so with the liberal use of self-developed technical jargon. It is a highly modular and scalable environment with many advanced, developer-friendly features. Everything here is priced independently, so you’re really paying for only what you need.

Editor’s Review & Recommendation
Right off the bat you can tell that Digital Ocean was designed for specific groups of users. If you’re running a high-performance site and have a good level of technical skills, this can absolutely be a fantastic choice. The issue I can foresee is for small scale owners such as bloggers who need the power that comes with a VPS hosting solutions provider that doesn’t necessarily have the technical expertise needed to set up and maintain a system using Digital Ocean’s ecosystem.
(P/S: I discussed about the actual cost of operating in “true cloud” environment and compared Digital Ocean pricing in this article.)
Yes, there are one-click deployments and the like, but overall it is an extremely challenging place to work within. This means that unless you’re a developer you might have to take on additional skills into your venture – just to make use of what Digital Ocean can offer.
For Newbies and Individual Bloggers
Unless you’re hosting a blog that has grown out of all proportion, Digital Ocean is a real stretch for bloggers to use, not to even mention newbies. Even if you’re a newbie who is a developer, things might get a little hairy here once you’ve added up the price for the various components you may need.

“It’s Best for Experienced Web Developers!”
If you’re an experienced web developer, I recommend DigitalOcean.
If you’re a normal person trying to establish an online presence, there are many more user-friendly options available for significantly less money.
There appears to be no faster or more well-performing solution for someone who understands their way around the tech world than DigitalOcean.
There are a few downsides, but if uptime and speed are your top priorities, DigitalOcean is one of the best options on the market.
