Shinjiru is a Malaysia-based web hosting company that’s been around for more than two decades now. It has a very extensive product lineup which is excellent for scalability. Unfortunately for international customers, they only have a presence in local data centers which might be an issue for sites that cater to region-specific visitors.

Shinjiru Cons
- Data Centers only in Malaysia
- Live chat requires Telegram app
- Tech support can be slow sometimes
- Outdated knowledge base
Editor’s Review & Recommendation
Established in 1998, Shiniru has grown into a service provider that spans the entire spectrum of web hosting and then more. It has practically everything you need to not just start a website under one roof. For corporate customers there is also the option of email hosting, Office 365 for business, and other specialized services.
First impressions of this host are good since they are quick to respond but over the past year they have switched to offering chat support only via the Telegram app which is a little bizarre for businesses trying to cater to a wide market. Unless you have the Telegram app you aren’t even able to get in touch with them quickly to clarify points of concern about their products.
Aside from that, Shinjiru has some very good features built into even their introductory plans. For relatively low prices you get access to many basics such as a free domain name, SSL certificate, and easy web app installation. Customer support is quite good as well since their support staff are willing to go the extra mile to help. The only problem is that there are occasions where response might take a bit longer than expected.
Unfortunately, over the past few years the quality of web hosting has declined a little and it hasn’t been the host it once was. Support staff now are eager to urge upgrades as a means of resolving issues which is problematic as that doesn’t usually resolve core problems. Although there are follow ups on technical issues by customer care staff, complaints in this areas are usually not taken seriously.
At the end of the day, Shinjiru fills in a very vital role within the country, offering an option to corporates who require that data be held in Malaysia. Unfortunately the company does not seem eager to grow beyond borders to better support international customers.
