UCraft Review Summary
Ucraft is another website builder and has only been around a couple of years – since 2014 to be exact. It was founded by a group of designers which could explain the large number of beautiful templates available on the site. Unusually, it offers free accounts for basic sites and then adds on eCommerce capabilities as you work up their plans.
UCraft Pros
- Free subdomain available
- Lots of beautiful templates
- Free plan available
- Zero transaction fee
UCraft Cons
- Plan downgrades not possible
- Free trial is only 14 days
- Ucraft branding on free sites
- Limited eCommerce features
Editor’s Review & Recommendation
Because of the rapid website building feature and free templates, Ucraft makes a good starter plan for newbies to web hosting or for those who are looking for something simple. From there you can expand your feature set by upgrading your plan but the scale seems more geared towards only eCommerce websites in the long run.
Therein lies a small problem for newbies since if they aren’t learning to manage a shared hosting platform here then need to move, everything they’ve picked up along the way with Ucraft isn’t that useful in the outside world. For those who choose to follow the Ucraft plan upgrades, you’re paying for eCommerce capabilities which you may or may not need.
For those who do intend to run online stores, Ucraft does have the basics such as some payments integration, order management and tracking, and (on their most expensive plan) integration with other sales platforms like Amazon. Yet we see very little in the way of fine detail like there is on major platforms like Squarespace.
Personally, I feel that while Ucraft is certainly an acceptable choice, it seems to lean too little in any particular direction to make it appealing as a long term partnership option.
To get started on Ucraft is quick and easy and the free account can be very useful to site owners who are looking for something very basic to get on their feet with. Yet there is no apparent specialization and new users who don’t want to run eCommerce stores might have trouble moving on to standard shared hosting as a future upgrade.
